Berry Healthy Smoothie Recipes

Healthy smoothie recipes are fun, delicious, and nutritious! They're also a great way to get extra nutrients that are sometimes hard to take by themselves. Strawberry banana smoothies with creamy oatmeal and freshly ground flax seeds are a hit. Smoothies are especially helpful for those who have just had their wisdom teeth removed. They're cold, refreshing, and filling.

Equipment

  • blender
  • cup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberries, frozen
  • ½ banana
  • ¼ cup oatmeal, cooked
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds, freshly ground
  • 1 cup milk (or water, fruit juice, yogurt, or milk kefir)

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients into a high speed blender, and blend until smooth and creamy. If your smoothie mixture is too thick, simply add more liquid.
  • Serve immediately, or keep it cold in the refrigerator until you're ready to enjoy.

Recipe Variations

  • Add or delete any fruits, seeds, nuts, or herbs. You can also sneak in vegetables like cauliflower, spinach, or kale to give smoothies a nutrient boost.

Meals After Wisdom Teeth Extractions

  • If you're serving smoothies to someone who just had their wisdom teeth removed, do not provide a straw. Straws are not allowed during the recovery period.
