Cranberry Sauce

It doesn’t have to be a holiday for you to serve this healthy, delicious cranberry sauce. I love making this side dish throughout the year because it’s a delicious (and sneaky) way to add this superfood to my family’s diet.
Cook Time 20 minutes

Equipment

  • medium sauce pan
  • measuring cups
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 & 1/2 cups water
  • 1 & 1/2 cups sugar
  • 12 oz washed cranberries

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, combine water and sugar and bring to a boil over medium-high heat while stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Boil rapidly for 5 minutes and then add cranberries.
  • Stir cranberries and continue to boil until the skins pop (about 3-4 minutes). At this point you can remove the mixture, refrigerate, and it will be a liquid sauce. However, you can continue to cook until it becomes a molded sauce.
  • If making a molded cranberry sauce, stir and boil the cranberries for a total of 13-16 minutes until it thickens. Stir frequently to prevent scorching on the bottom of the pan.
  • Remove from heat, pour into a dish, and refrigerate.
